Law clerk. Mr. Finley helped represent clients and corresponded with clients’ accountants in Business Tax matters involving the Internal Revenue Code and Internal Revenue Service Circulars. Mr. Finley also wrote a winning response for a client in a domain name dispute under the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Judge Huffman Extern at Montgomery County Common Pleas Court (2008)
Judicial extern. Under the counsel and mentorship of Judge Huffman, Mr. Finley drafted Final Orders, Decisions for Summary Judgment, and Decisions for Administrative Appeals. He researched and reported on issues involving the Uniform Commercial Code, Subrogation Legislation, Punitive Damages, and Attorneys’ Sanctions. Mr. Finley also sat through many civil and criminal trials for four months.
Gottschlich & Portune, LLP (2007-2009)
Law clerk. For two years at this firm, Mr. Finley gained substantial hands-on experience in Business, Commercial, Personal Injury and Real Estate law. Mr. Finley helped develop legal strategies for banks, corporations, and municipalities. In representing clients, he reviewed and drafted contracts, extensively negotiated with opposing counsel, analyzed corporate financial documents for legal purposes, and suggested pre/post litigation solutions to clients. He also wrote the winning brief on a Motion for Summary Judgment for a personal injury case.
